Technical Artist - Full Time -
| are looking for experienced Technical Artists. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the art and technical pipelines within Unreal as well as a passion for music. High level technical competency in additional to strong creative and visual instincts are a must. The Technical Artist will work alongside teams of artists, audio engineers and designers tackling projects and providing support on issues within Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 and associated proprietary pipelines.
Role Responsibilities:
- Work with Creative Director and various in-house teams to design and develop interactive experiences utilizing Unreal and VR platforms.
- Develop functionality for experiences and interactions using the Unreal Engine’s node based Blueprint Editor.
- Be well versed in the various lighting techniques in Unreal and instruct the artists in lighting best practices.
- Use profiling to optimize content with the aid of diagnostic tools.
- Oversee content pipelines from prototyping through deployment. Collaborate with programmers to develop and test new features, prototype shader code, and provide useful feedback during R&D phases.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements:
- Experience and vast knowledge of real-time graphical and rendering pipelines. Advanced knowledge of UE4 and Unreal’s Blueprint Editor.
- Strong 3D mathematical skills.
- Understanding of both traditional and generative art pipelines.
- Proficiency with tools such as Maya and 3DS Max.
- Experience with shader creation for real-time content.
- Basic knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as C/C++/HLSL
- Superior eye for lighting, value, color, details, and the ability to use them in creating efficient and impactful visual elements.
- Understanding of performance and optimization requirements and experience diagnosing and profiling content costs.
- Bachelors in related field or equivalent experience.
- Positive attitude, a love of music and the ability to communicate and have fun. Comfort with vast range of content creation software.
- Desire to learn surfing, literally.
Additional Skills (not essential to the position but assists in choosing candidates):
- Experience with VR/AR.
- Fluent in at least one development language such as C++, Python, MEL, LUA, Perl, or C#.
- Shader programming experience.
- Experience with VVVV, Ofx, Processing.
- Facial hair will be appreciated.
