Thanks Polyneutron
BY THE WAY, I’ve just started something as a test but I hope to continue. WORK-IN-PROGESS (PRE-ALPHA) FREE books! The first one (Making Super Distro) is available to read RIGHT NOW (Even though it’s Pre-Alpha, There’s still a long, long, long way to go before it’s completed!)

Can I just say is super good of you? Because it’s super good of you.
I only just hopped onto the Unreal bandwagon – me and about a gazillion other people, no doubt – and I’m struggling to learn a lot of stuff. You obviously put a lot of hard work into book and I really appreciate it.
Good books, thanks for creating such awesomeness!
Thanks for the lovely messages!
Hi there, me again. So, I’ve been working my way through Book 1 and finished the first project. 's the thing. At the wrap-up of the project you suggest I use my skills to create more portals and navigate between multiple levels, and that sounds great, I’m all over that.
But, uh, how do I do that exactly?
I feel like I must be missing something very obvious, but I’m stumped nonetheless. Do I need to make another HUD blueprint for every level? What about when there are multiple portals per level? I’m sorry for being such a clank.
And thank you again for making these books, you’re amazing, I can’t say that enough.
Wow, that was timely! Cool.
Bookmarking thread. Really looking forward to the fighting game book.
Hello again! I just finished Book 3 and am eager for the second half, but in the meantime I have a bit of an.
So I put down the tin can and the button, right? And they open the door, that’s all fine, totally works. But the player can’t walk through the door. It looks like is because the NavMesh doesn’t update to account for the open doorway? I’m wondering if you could spare a moment to explain NavMeshes a bit.
I don’t recall when but your tutorials helped me more than once in previous months. Thanks very much for your efforts, you are truly epic
, please let me offer you some advice in your E-book endeavors:
I know that using method of distro means a very high increase in piracy due to most pirates being “lazy !@#” and not wanting to copy/paste into a PDF creator… but would it be possible for you to copy/paste your E-books into a PDF creator and sell them on Sellfy for $x.xx amount? will allow you to distribute “updates” a bit more easily I suspect, as well as allow me to throw the books onto my tablet for offline reading when I’m not in civilized spaces / want to do some e-learning while on a mountainside or in some forest somewhere.
Thank you for your consideration.
Say, if you’re still up for taking suggestions, is there any you could dip into the frosty waters of developing AI? There are many tutorials out there on the subject, but most are out of date – and few of them delve beyond the basic “wait around, chase the player, wait some more” part.
Oooh! Fortuitous indeed.
Hi ,
First of all, thanks for doing all of these books! I’m currently stuck though- I’m on book #1, on the “Finding a Home for our Portal” section. I’ve noticed that UE4 has (inevitably) changed a bit since the tutorial, and I can’t seem to get the BSP box to subtract from the tutorial’s wall, which is a static mesh. Was a behavior change in a recent UE4 update that causes ? What should I be doing instead?
Thanks!
Hi… im a beginner and im starting on the first book… but in the section “Finding a Home for our Portal” i cant get the subtractive brush to subtract from the mesh of the walls… i can only get it to work with an additive brush… is a configuration thing? is there a way to make it work like in the book? im working with the current version 4.7.6…
F.Y.I. the community in looks amazing hope i can contribute with it
happened with me too. The problem is that the walls are static meshes, not BSPs, so you can’t alter them like that. You could delete them and replace them with your own BSP walls, or you could do what I did and make a BSP “doorway” – just an additive box with a smaller subtractive box inside it.
No man, thank YOU. You and the people like you are why is the best community out there.
I hope I’ll be able to contribute the same way someday.
Thank you so much for your work.
Why i had found accidentally and not through a sticky in BP/tutorialsection?
Very nice written and easy to understand. I searched on Amazon for UE4 BP-Books and then i found thread , through a comment at one of your books #1.
I tried many tutorials and if they are well documented or commented, i can follow them, but i could not produce it on my own, because i am lost in understanding the fancy variables stuff.
After reading your nice first book (without bp-ing), i think it is a great ressource, for amateurs like me
I want to understand that BP-stuff.
