Working on lighting propsā¦ almost at the end of modellingā¦ just a few categories left after that: statues, church and (optionally) few extra models for sidewalks/paths/roadsā¦ so closeā¦
Btw. here are some of those candles in blender (very old render from 2020 - did them for a small project that is basically an inspiration for the whole asset pack):
Thanks a lot for this! I think Iāve seen Grant Abbitt a time or two but I didnāt take the time to watch thoroughly. The shortcuts is where I may be having the issues with because Iāll do something that seems like what Iām meant to be following but due to outdated tutorials and things or different layouts it can get confusing when trying to cut corners.
I may try working on some of my own low poly projects and see if I feel brave enough to post, haha.
I think most shortcuts (I can only recall now one that did change - merge by distance) donāt change a lot. But also if you hit F3 (default, I have it set to space ) you can type and youāll find most functionality that way. If you get stuck at something feel free to DM me (here, or on other socials: vertexrage | Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok | Linktree)
Time for āproperā update. I added a few categories of ālighting related propsā. Now aside from candles, there are grave lanterns, lamp posts, torches and braziers.
Do note that lamp posts are in principle modular. There are 2 bases (clean, two damaged variants and broken variant), 3 set of chains and 3 types of lamps. Aside from adding some color variations those parts can be used for creating quite a few variants. I made just 6 as examples.
The lighting in a āspookyā environment is easily the most important element to me. It makes a scene come to life in such a unique way. I canāt wait to see how these look in an actual graveyard Also, thanks for continuing to share your updates. So cool getting to see it all develop!
Oh yea, I agree - lighting is super importantā¦ but also very hard to get right . I kind of like tinkering with lighting, so hopefully Iāll be able to come up with something nice looking.
And thank you for your kind words of encouragement!
Oh wow. It feels cinematic and so incredibly unique. Always so impressed by updates from this thread. I look forward to seeing your āfinal productā
Iām still working hard after the last time I checked in, but I wanted to pop in and say Iām loving the continuous growth I see. I certainly aspire to be able to produce something like you have in hopes it reaches the right people like you did with me!
Can I ask how you got the swarming bug effect on the lanterns in your cinematic?
Almost at the finish line with low poly Forgotten Graveyards asset pack for Unreal Engine. Around 2.2k models for this beast (including nature models). Wondering about compatibility. 5.1 is enough?
Alsoā¦ Iām thinking of having releasing 2 packs out of it actually (one bundle, one props). So after that this low poly situation on Unreal Marketplace would be:
And last of the ābunchā: brazier flames (and dust).
Now need to āpackage it upā and will submit it to Unreal Engine Marketplace. That was quite the journey to get to this place (though, still will need to do a demo map for proper environment version of the pack that will include both nature and graveyard models)
Itās been a while but I adore seeing the progress that youāve made. I first wanted to state that I am in love with the braziers youāve made for this pack as the variety is more than what I normally get to see.
In regards to your post about releasing the pack in 3 separate forms I think that would be a good idea if youāre comfortable. Splitting the pack allows for people to pick up one if theyāre not looking for the full pack and also depending on how you wish to price it make it more affordable over time. I know Iāll be picking this up when it releases so Iām going to keep a close eye on your release!
Yes! I will release 2 extra version (so 3 in total: nature, graveyard, nature+graveyard). I figured out one extra reason, which basically overridden any of my previous doubts. If I would release just 2 packs, anybody that would have already bought Low Poly Nature, would have to re-buy it in a sense to get the graveyard part. Wouldnāt feel good with that.
The āpropsā version (no demo map, no nature part) is almost done. Iām making screenshots and preparing description for the store page. Itās still a bit of work, but I should submit it today/tomorrow. So assuming marketplace reviews will go well: it will be available quite soon.
The ābundleā one, will take a few more days. Making a good demo map takes a bit of timeā¦
