Force components rematch

Could you explain please how the option “Force components rematch” works?

In the RC help I read that: “When set to True, the application will re-align images/cameras among each other in order to find better connections. It uses a camera pose to find new matches.”

So did I understand correct that when this option is turned on the RC uses camera position from the previous alignment to calculate new matches between images and that in such a case it could be useful to turn it on and run alignment again to find more connections between images to get better results on reconstruction?

Hello.

“Force component rematch” will forget all previous lens estimation and camera orientation (except GPS priors if you used them) and will try align images from scratch.

Vlad - can you elaborate on your understanding Force Component rematch?

From my understanding and experimentation, Sergey is correct - it uses the previous camera alignment to look for new Feature matches between images to create new tie points from.  It doesn’t start from scratch.
