The problem could be that you are not following the naming convention for the texture layers.
I think it is not necessary to delete the geometry folder, as it can cause the project corruption and you shouldn’t use names with endings -1 and -2.
Instead of that use original name for geometry images or add jpg.geometry to your image name (it depends on the used image format). Then for texture layer you can use .jpg.texture (RealityCapture Help).
Other way is to use the same names, but in different folders: RealityCapture Help.
And import the images in one step.
As you are adding the texture images in 2nd step and there is wrong naming convention, they are added as new images. And as you are not providing new reconstruction process, the original images are used for texturing (as the imported ones are not a part of the component).
