I’m encountering an issue when connecting to Unreal Revision Control. Everything was working fine this morning, but now I’m getting the following repeated error:
" Connection Error: Failed to load branch metadata: Branch does not exist "
This message shows up multiple times in the Revision Control log. I haven’t changed any settings, and the connection to the Revision Control server seems to establish, but the branch metadata cannot be loaded.
@_1_stepashka@KrimTheCreator@R2ppfrs We’d like to investigate this further, could you zip your logs folder and send it to me on discord at @epic_garren
Your logs folder can be found at C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\UnrealEditorFortnite\Saved\Logs
For everyone else:
We’re still investigating the underlying cause of this issue and working on a fix to ensure it does not happen in the future. In the meantime if anyone runs into this error, you may try the following to get unstuck:
Ensure you save all changes you’ve made to the project
Close UEFN & ensure it is fully closed/background processes complete until “Launch” becomes visible in the Epic Games Launcher rather than “Running”,
Navigate to the project folder in which you are receiving the error in your Windows file browser,
Move ONLY the .urc folder to your desktop (don’t delete it for now just in case it is needed) so that it is no longer in the project folder,
relaunch UEFN,
open the project,
a new .urc folder will be created and your state should be reset, hopefully unblocking you to check in again
once you confirm all is working again you can delete the folder you moved to the desktop
If these steps don’t help, please reach out to me here or in discord @epic_garren and we can investigate further
