So I was able to start enrollment last Thursday, did the W8-BEN tax form which was approved and then got to the part where you setup a HyperWallet. I set the HyperWallet up and everything was approved on their end, however my Enrollment process is now stuck at this last step and won’t move further. Epic Support said it was some error with the W8-BEN form and that I would need to retake it, however they need to re-program their Creator Portal to get make this possible. They can’t give me an estimate and I have to wait for what might be weeks, months or days.
I have invested a month of work, time and money in creating work for this platform, and now I can’t publish because of this. I have published games on Steam, Apple Store, Oculus and the Microsoft Store and an unfilled tax form has never stopped me from enrolling in their platforms. I don’t even care about payouts, I just want publishing access.
I really hope Epic can fix this soon, it’s very hard to take the platform seriously and continue investing in this if I don’t know when the work produced can be published.
UPDATE:
So 10 days after my enrollment got stuck, I finally found a solution on my own:
Basically I signed up as a creator on the Unreal Marketplace as I’m interested in selling my models there, and realized that it had my tax profile from the Creator Enrollment already. Epic Support had said there might be an issue with my tax interview (there probably wasn’t) so just in case, I set up a new tax profile and continued with the process there to setup a HyperWallet. It setup a new wallet for me for that account. I realized that this time when setting up the HyperWallet I was given the correct Verification process that I never got on the Creative Enrollment where you have to send your driver’s license etc. I was able to get all that done, and when I returned to the Creative Enrollment I logged in to my Hyperwallet, changed a detail in my profile settings (remove DBA) and suddenly HyperWallet realized it needed to run the Verification process on this wallet. Once I was verified, the Creative Enrollment finalized and I was entered into the program
Figured this might happen to someone else too, so that’s how I got my Enrollment unstuck!
I have a quick question if you don’t mind. I recently enrolled and submitted my tax info four days ago. But I have yet to receive any notifications of my tax info passing verification. I was wondering how long it took them to verify your tax info and allow you to move onto the second stage.
