Do you work on a game by yourself or do you have help

Oh. I have a very amazing idea for my game. I think I can continue working on it for awhile.

I would go with what franktech said … work on your game as a prototype or proof of concept and then share it with the community. This will help attract interest and at best case will get you more team members and worst case will at least get you some testers.

The only one who can make the decision whether it is better to go solo or with a team is you. Because it is your project, you will have to drive the team forward if you attract a team and if ou can do this and still enjoy making your game and still make your game … than a team is better … if you can’t … than stick to solo.

Good luck with your project. 8-}

Thank you

If I could find someone skilled who is willing to work the same hours I do, for the same pay I wouldn’t be solo.
Unfortunately, no one wants to work 14 hours a day for free. Working with people who aren’t committed/dedicated actually slows progress.

It’s better to do your best to form your project idea into something tangible that other people can see. Get the core features prototyped out and then when it comes time to building out features having more people helps. But in it’s infancy too many cooks in the kitchen causes a lot of problems. If your team has 1 programmer, 4 designers and only 5 team members you’re not going to be making anything except a big waste of time for the one programmer.

I been doing my stuff solo. I come to the forums when I have a problem and can’t figure out how to fix it. I have asked friends if they would like to join me. A few agreed but they either have a different view of doing things it just don’t have time to do anything. So I guess solo isn’t to bad because you won’t have to wait for some one to get their stuff done and continue to remind them about getting their section done. But if they are as determined as you are…then a team is good.

Ok then. Maybe if I do my game solo, I’ll get more done

You can get more done but it’ll take longer because it’ll be just you working on it. But it’ll come out exactly how you want and not rushed. And have fun with it.

Good point thanks:D

I think the second one would benefit me more since I’m solo

I develop solo with options.

I used to believe I required a huge team to produce a successful game. Then along came Minecraft. My opinion has changed, and the landscape for indie developers has changed.

My current mindset is use the skills I possess and learn new ones to produce something playable and fun by others. It doesn’t have to be AAA… It has to be me, the game I saw through to completion.

I’ve launched a few recruitment posts in hopes of attracting 3 dedicated co-developers with skills I lack, but, its not show stopper if I don’t.

Alright then

I personally have some projects running with friends, people from the forum, some projects that I do alone and staff from a company -> but I prefer to do projects with people that I already know, because then everything works perfectly right from the beginning (everybody knows what he has to do)

Wow, I didn’t know about these projects. I can definitely see how Rama looks and I can say that I was not expecting that, cool
