Dragon at Drakenfontein, 's Hertogenbosch
Another scan from my trip to Netherlands, located in 's Hertogenbosch also know as Den Bosch
small city close to Utrecht, this dragon is a part of their famous Drakenfontein, which of course means Dragon fountain. It is the famous monument of the city, erected in 1903 as a drinking fountain, but never served this function. The statue was built in memory of the twin daughters of a local esquire who both died tragically in 1881 at the age of only 17.
This shooting was the most hilarious one. When I did the research online, the pictures I found had the fountain empty, without water. Sure enough, when I arrived to Den Bosch with a tight schedule to do the shooting and return back, the fountain was full of water. I started the shooting while thinking how to get inside the fountain. First I thought i will just get in bare feet, but it was still very cold. In the end , I’ve asked for ladder in the local cafe, fortunatelly they’ve borrowed me one and I used it to move close to the dragon by doing little hops on the ladder. That day, it was the day of annual carnival and people were already in an upbeat mood, up for some pranks. One guy tried to grab and steal my ladder so I could not leave the fountain, fortunately, I’ve defended the ladder and his shoes got wet :D.
