Compile and package up Lyra?

Hello All,

I’m just getting started with Unreal 5.5.1 and have it installed along with Visual Studio 2022 on a Windows 10 (x64) system. I was able to also download and run the Lyra Starter Game and even run it within the editor.

I am looking for some “Getting started” documentation that might be able to guide me through the initial process of building and packaging the Lyra game so that I can learn the process. I do see that there are “Lyra Client”, “Lyra Server”, and “Lyra Game” options in both the VS 2022 and UE5 editor. I would like to be able to package them up into individual directories so that I can run them outside the editor and test them out a bit as a first step. On a side note, I did try to “cook” the Lyra Game for which is asked me about an output directory but it did not place any files there when it was finished about an hour later. Not sure what happened there as well.

If following some online guidance, I have my Visual Studio 2022 connected to the UE5 editor. It is a little confusing in that I am not clear if I have to always start up a project in the VS 2022 that kicks in the UE5 editor, or if I can build things just in VS 2022 or just in the UE5 editor since there is a backend connection. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Any guidance for this newbie would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and have a great day
