[CINEMATIC] - First crack at filmmaking in UE4 - "Renegade Hardware"

Thank you very much. It was fun reinterpreting some of the animations. For instance when Phase catches the giant punch, it’s actually a sassy “Talk to the hand” emote that I re-timed.

I modified the map more and more as I went along, mostly by duplicating and resizing assets. I put in more neon signs. I put in more sparks and rain emitters, just duplicating what was already in place. I also removed walls and floors when needed to get certain camera angles.

Because I’m still learning the aspects of UE4 that affect visual quality (this didn’t have ray-tracing or other polish), and because I’m limited to a 2015 iMac for now, I had to rely on camerawork, lens selection, and lighting design to increase the visual production value. I used ‘low-key’-style character lighting, giving characters rim light to make them pop from the background. And I rendered out individual shots and edited the film together in Premiere, so I did my color corrections in Premiere’s Lumetri color editing. It’s possible my setting for contrast, saturation, shadows and highlights, helped make the scene look a little more punchy.

Awsome! I like the rythem.
