Character animation snapping when running

It seems like the animation is not in place. You can go ahead and download it from wherever you got it from again but this time choose the option for “in place”. And yes, your character does indeed need to have a ground anchored root bone for the root motion to work. But you won’t need root motion for this :wink:


Still, here’s a tutorial on adding root bone to models that are imported from Mixamo (which I assume is where you got yours from since they usually don’t have that) if you’d like to use root motion for your current model in the future:

Note that the animations for the old skeletal mesh won’t work anymore once you do this so you’d need to retarget them all. Either that, or you can take the approach that’s pinned under the tutorial.
