Can you lock a portion of a Metahuman to a spatial location and then animate the rest?

Hi there, I’m relatively new to animating Metahumans in Unreal Engine, and have a question for the more experienced users out there. Is it possible to lock a bone to a spatial location - say a hand holding onto a railing for example - so that you could animate the rest of the body to rotate, move around, gesture, etc while the locked hand stays in place and the arm connected to it moves realistically via its joints and does not stretch or bend impossibly? I know you could connect the hand bone to the railing bone in this example, by then wouldn’t the railing just move along with the Metahuman rather than being locked in place? Ideally I’d like a way to keep the Metahuman’s movements restricted to keeping the hand in place in this example, or whatever body part needs to be locked down for a particular animation.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer, I very much appreciate the helpful online community here!
