Unfortunately in the interest of time to complete my portfolio projects, I gave up on finding a solution. Any design projects that involve animating cloners with linked effectors, I made sure to only use 5.4.
I can only hope someone from the dev team saw the forum post & are working on it behind the scenes. The more people that speak about it, the better!
