[Bug + Steps] SplineLocation along distance is inaccurate

Just to let you all know, I’ve managed to get Epic to reopen the original case for this as it’s still an issue even now at 4.21 and I assume in 4.22. I’ve provided them with a fresh project, and fresh evidence video, and I’ll keep you all updated here.

It seems that in version 5.03, the problem is still not solved.

UE 5.3.1:

  • Splines and spline meshes are still broken AF.
  • Unusable for any precision requiring or core mechanic.
  • Spline meshes still use incompatible rotation format compared to splines, with no built-in conversion.
  • Epic still keeps on piling on half-baked features.
  • Will to live on an all-time low.

I found a work around setting “Reparam Steps Per Segment” to 32 instead of 16 on the spline. This fixed the location wobble around points with long tangents for me. Hope it helps :slight_smile:

If you are going to use straight lines, it is recommended not to use a spline, in cases of curves it may be better to do a calculation to correct this or using set tangents or another method
