Using 465.89 released a few days ago I’ve started experiencing this issue except instead of menus going black they’re immediately closed. Anyone else experiencing this?
Using 461.92 latest release according to Nvidia (installed yesterday after major ue4 crash) I got black menus twice since…closing and restarting seems to fix it for now…very annoying…hope there is a fix up…using 4.24.1
A simple solution that I have found to work so far…fingers crossed! is to make a copy of the project and use that one…
sadly I’m back with the issue:(
–Yep! For a few months now. Attribute it to a Driver/Win10 update, but unknown which, as it’s been a few months now… Restarting UE4 helps temporarily, until the issue reappears again. Will roll-back to 460.89 and see… so much for studio drivers…
Hello everyone, In another thread someone posted a fix, and I have applied it and IT WORKS.
I had tried this fix in the past, and I thought it didn’t work, but you have to restart your computer after applying it.
The fix is registry edit from NVIDIA here: After updating to NVIDIA Game Ready Driver 461.09 or newer, some desktop apps may flicker or stutter when resizing the window on some PC configurations | NVIDIA
The issue for me is finally fixed (been working for a few hours now with no black popups and no menu glitchiness).
Again, the important part is restarting your PC after applying the fix.
Hope this helps.
Seems OK so far…thanks for this!
The solution is good for a 3060 TI and a 3070, but the solution does NOT work for a 3060 non TI, only the “461.72” can be installed here. The “460.89” is too “old” and does not support the 3060 non ti. Does anyone know what the “newer” driver changes and whether the problem can be solved with regedit?
But it only solves the problem for “older” cards. a 3060 non ti cannot be fixed with it.
This fixed it for me, haven’t seen the issue in a couple weeks. On a 2080, issue was windows disappearing in UE4. Also had windows in Chrome going black and windows in Modo not rendering, all fixed after the nvidia regedit update.
This also is the solution for 3060 non TI
Just as information, same problem still in july 2021 with newest nvidia driver. I will try the “mpo_disable.reg” fix next.
Same problem march 30 2022. Latest of all drivers, most recent linked fix did not work. Reinstall of UE4 and UE5 of various versions do not work.
I just had this same problem and this fixed my issue. I suggest downloading both so you can test if you can turn it back on when each new driver comes out.
The fix @mmcmain posted above looks like it’s the solution. This problem with black dropdowns is discussed more in this thread.
