Addressed this in another post where I discuss “two possible forks.” In one it is not a billion dollar idea, in the other it is. It should be, because it can demonstrate a culture from the set of possible cultures that are solutions to us damaging the biosphere. Such cultures do exist. People cannot envision them, is part of the problem. So, a sim-style game would let people live them.
But please understand this is more than a sim-style game. Those games are worthless wastes of time. In this game, it is more properly an adjunct to real life. The community and friends you make there are real. The intellectual properties you make and consume there are real, and add value to your real life. The economy there is real. You can live and die there and have real children there (that’s a whole nuther post, but there are NPC’s that can be adopted and put to work, plus if someone you know wants to join the game…they don’t just the game. It’s a whole thing.)
