Beyond Despair development

Not long ago we’ve started working on a new unique location. At the moment I can’t tell you the name and story behind it. Here is the concept art.

Of course it is basic concept without final detalization and all the elements which may be present.

We are working non-stop.
It is very exciting and interesting to participate in project development. Every time the editor is opened we see something new in the world of Beyond Despair, which makes the game more detailed and playable.
And i’m talking not only about locations from screenshots but also new systems, animations and creautures of Ansora and many other things we will show in our videos and streams.

Thank you! We try to make it as good as we can with our resources.

We will start a new type of posts in the format " before-after". And the first one is about “P.I.T.” research facility.

In the beggining the complex was represented by a wide shaft going deep into the earth with a massive fan at the bottom. But the concept of this facility included the bigger part of the facility to be burried in earth with lots of tunnels with equipment and infrastructure needed for its fuctions.

Right now we are working on the underground part of the “P.I.T.”. Next post will contain a detailed location.

The histoty of this facility is covered with secrets and scary stories. People say that right before the world of Beyond Despair was overrun with chaos one worker or a brigade fixing the water pump was sealed inside. What has happened to them? Are they still alive? Who knows… But a group of volunteers from “New Light” who went on a reckon mission there have not been in touch with the base for over a week already.

Hooray! Beyond Despair is on steam, we’ve passesd verification.

Now we can get ready project page in steam , materials for the community and finish all the formalities. Programmers are integrating steam functions into the game, we can already connect to friends through steam.

We have not posted animations for a long time, so here are some new ones.

Madmen used to be normal people who lived on the island. They had families and jobs, friends and hobbies. They had future.

But after the leap they lost parts of their mind, thoughts were broken into smaller pieces, they became agressive.
Meeting someone like them don’t try to communicate. Such encounters may be very dangerous for you.

Mark 1 - is a pistol used as sidearm by the majority of New Light security officers and soldiers. They are made on Grekov’s factories. Players may find additional information exploring the island.

From 10th till 15th of December we will have a closed alpha test of Beyond Despair. If you signed up for the test through the form we will contact you soon and tell you the details.

Test will be held in waves.All the communication will be through Discord. If you don’t have it, please download it in advance. All the bug reports and your impressions will be on the forum for testers on our website.

I really like the idea of this game! What you have achieved reminds me of what games like Fallout, Mad Max, and Rage promised, but overall, couldn’t provide. A world of despair that made you feel welcome and needed.

You’re welcome. It reminds me of them, but of more of an emphasis on survival and the horror of post-apocalypse alone. I’ve always wanted a game like this, so at least this is how I feel.

We want to thank everybody who helped develop the game — there is a lot of work ahead of us, we want to make BD a game players enjoy, finish everything we have planned and release the full version this summer.

We want to remind you that Beyond Despair is early development stage. Optmisation is one of the most important directions for us, as well as fixing bugs found by our community and dev team.

Beyond Despair was released on Steam a little more than a month ago.

During this period we have made 13 updates, which made the game much better, bigger and enjoyable.

Most notable changes:

—craft system and lots of blueprints for it (players can find new blueprints, components and parts to make consumables and weapon modifications);

— new creatures (grutch and the Blind);

— new locations (airfield, villages), and detailing in many of the existing locations;

— map was added to interface;

— hand to hand combat;

— many new notes and records;

— lots of changes to the sound and music to create the mood for several locations.

Next update will be a big one. We plan to add perk system, new creature, in-game tutorial, new achievements and notes, many changes to the existing locations and sounds.


Future updates.

Right now there is only one chapter of the story in the game and many people ask us to add the second one. We are working on it, and you can expect it at the beginning of March, there will be new characters and new types of tasks.

Dedicated servers — the team is working on making them available for players soon. Next week we plan to start a test server to check for any problems and performance issues. When it is ready we will host several official servers for players.

20 new recipes — with the new chapter we will add 20 new recipes with a unique weapon modification which will only be available during story event.

Lightning and sky — we see that many of our players are not satisfied by the existing lightning and day/night cycle. We are already working on a new version of it.
