My pleasure here is the prototype projectile hierarcy, can be helpfull on the way of your quest.
Basically I have a static mesh and a geometry collection. I Stop hide cube on time of explosion and apply impulse to geometry collection for explosion. You can do with one geometry collection too no need for static mesh really, it was just faster for me to prototype.
Also even you can record chaos destruction if you like to have same explosion in replay too. Which you can find a lot of youtube videos around it.
