Maybe he’s talking about an email I’ve received too which was from a third party store called Unreal Assetstore that launched today but it is not Fab or Unreal related.
I got this same E-Mail, I thought it was from Unreal at first. Very sketchy.

well I guess fab is DOA nothing has changed with the site and its last years annocement
its just not finished, epic usually does releases same day as announcements. they have millions of existing users who will be merged over so it won’t be DOA. it likely will release by may or june maybe before.

they announced it like 12 months ago, relax it will come this year. I would rather just keep the marketplace open until fab is feature rich and ready than to release it too early and get rid of the marketplace.
I have a concern regarding Sketchfab included to this list. I know many artists who avoid using Sketchfab for a simple reason: it is very easy place to get your asset stolen. Whatever is displayed on the Sketchfab is already selling on dozens of pirat platforms. Especially chinese ones. If you are considering adding online 3D viewer, please make sure the viewer corrupts the model for the thiefs and that source files are stored separately and protected. It can be done unnoticable for customers.
The lifespan of the assets is not very long. And they sometimes leak after first sales. But 3D viewers can reduce it even further.
So, do I get it right, with Fab I’ll be able to get access to UE Marketplace assets on Linux without any crutches, finally?
Question, I have keys to assets for UE Marketplace from Humble Bundle. Some of them are duplicates from previous bundles. Will the keys for UEM work after Fab is online or will I lose my spare keys?

I migrated my product from UE Marketplace to fab and it is not even showing my star rating from UE Marketplace.
My product is live from “Nov 25, 2022”. but it also updated the info and now showing “September 18, 2024”

Since the license is perpetual (non expiring)… Should professional price be 10x or 30x more?

As someone who has personally purchased several 1000s of dollars of UE marketplace assets, and having 2 commercial products using them, I’m not sure I’m looking forward to tiered licensing pricing…
As it is, with the exceptions of very few products, vast numbers of assets are very limited in their uses, for example, many environments, particularly, sci-fi interiors seem like they were designed around the actual demo maps used to showcase them.
The effect of this is that essentially, most of the assets I’ve purchased, especially those in excess of $100 has effectively only been about 5% to 7% usefulness. I’m not saying these assets are ‘bad’ or that they are worthy of poor reviews, it’s just that they are in a very practical sense, very limited in their use. If the pricing of the commercial license end up 10-30x higher than personal usages, then I’m out of the game… I couldn’t afford to pay more, especially since I don’t make much money on the games I’ve published. I have never broken even on my published games in terms of time or investment costs.
Paying more for commercial licenses I think will pretty much end my ‘career’ as a game dev, such as it is. Guess it’s a dam good thing I have a day job…
Hi, it doesn’t sound like you would need to purchase the pro versions - unless you’re earning over 100K at the time of purchasing.
I’ve heard a lot of people are setting the pro price at 2-4x rather than 10x.
$100k isnt that much even to a small-mid sized studio. You have one artist on staff? You’re probably over $100k. One staff salary is most of the way there. That’s a tiny tiny baby studio.
Prices should have scaled with the size of the team. This tiered pricing makes no sense.
According to marketplace support, redemption codes will be transferred over to FAB.

i have 6 questions:
- How to upgrade license from personal to professional?
- There will be notification System if title that uses asset need to be upgraded (association with the project)?
- If yes how much time Developer need to have upgrade owned Licenses?
- Or it works like that if Solo developer bought personal licenses and after reaching 100k - then if he would like add new assets to the game for example then need to buy proffesional tiers. Rest personal licenses used are legal in this project?
- There will be filter for assets that have updates to do this without searching an Orange Dot in all Library? Since i saw New “Abandoned” You will Flag those if there will be not responsive developer? I ask cause didnt saw “Patched,Updated” and that is one look most - since it was time consuming process (Without Plugins which had that option premade in “installed plugins” under the Engine Version)
- How to Add to the Favourites in Fab? i Had 100 positions with Marketplace , seems it will be hard to find them for sure,but the second thing is if i want purchase with sale for example - i need to open 100 cards and see if this Asset price is reduced? Please tell me that is not true after those months of tests.
What happened to our UE Marketplace wishlists? I can’t find my list anywhere anymore, which is rather frustrating. I’d greatly appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction!
No customer reviews, No Q/A, and No wishlisting assets? This is terrible and hate it already. I had close to 80 assets bookmarked (wishlisted) waitiing for a sale and or udates or when I needed it but, now they are all erased. This blows!
