Animal Behavior Kit - add a complete ecosystem to your game!

Thank you!

Devlog 10 - Animal and Food Spawners!

Hello,

Your system looks great, I have a game in mind which could use help from an advanced animal ai, like roaming around, reacting to character & need system, etc.

Do you have a planned estimated release date?

Hey SideWaysET, thanks for the interest :). I’m currently working on adding multiplayer support (as this is always a very popular feature) and when Im done I just need to polish the code and create the documentation before I submit it. I’m thinking around 6-8 weeks.

Keep an eye out for this thread for updates - I’ll let everyone know once Im really close to submission

When can I buy this  I want it!

Thank you for your interest! Im hoping around 1 more month to finish adding multiplayer and polishing everything

i also can’t wait this. probably one of the best packages in unreal. hopefully some base animals will included to package so not need model or buy all

Thank you!

that sounds really interesting, I will buy it!

Thank you Meus! I really appreciate your support

Stop teasing, take our money !

lol

I dont have the survival template but i always appreciate Devs who thinks about migration to the most popular product on the marketplace.

If you want other suggestion : migration with instant swimmable water, farming system (food for animal?), advanced fishing system, taming system

Haha - soon!

Thanks for the suggestions - I’ll look at some of those after the initial release and see if I can make the kit compatible. Stay tuned!

Looking forward to seeing this! In the mean time is there a tutorial out there that shows how to bring an animal into game so it can interface with the existing AI? (Because I suspect that would need to be done to use the (hopefully) soon to be released WIP ecosystem?

Hey @Neoga - thanks for your support :). I will create a tutorial on how to add your own animals to they work with the AI. Right now Im planning to show 2 examples from the MP:

The process should be the same for any new animals you want to import

Are you thinking on implementing an “alert” system? Or groups behaviour depending on the species?

Hi there,

I have group behavior implemented - you can assign any number of AI to a group (via a group manager and tags) and the group shares “alert” information between each other. So if a group of spiders is together and one spider sees you, all spiders will be alerted and attack you (of if 1 deer sees you, they are all alerted and run away). There is also the concept of a Group Leader that dictates the movement of the group (think of an alpha in the herd for example).

Hope this is what you were looking for

Hi CoquiGames.
Ill keep an eye on this.
Im making a wild animal survival multiplayer/online so definitely, this kit could help me with the AI/single player mode.
Anyway, I would disable Taming System or other details like health plate over their heads and so.

Hows the online support going?
Will the animals be able to fight against others?
For example, a pack of wolfs trying to hunt down a bear baby or attack a pack of deers family for food or for territory?
Would be awesome if you make the possibility to randomize movements on idle for the deer instead of being completely stop waiting for your orders if you tame an animal. I would modify it to add somekind of family option so players as adult wolf could have for example wolf babies which follows you if you say to but have their own behaviour and starts to move around and maybe you have to call them again one minute later because they went away from you and they could be hunted by other players or by AI.

is there any schedule when this asset maybe in marketplace? maybe september-october?

Hey @gon.

You can very easily disable the taming (don’t include the actor component!) and take away the name plates with an option on the animal BP - so what you want to do is already there :). As far as online, my goal is to have as much of the current functionality replicated (so all players see the animals running away, attacking each other, etc). Its going slow tbh because its the first time Im doing multiplayer and I’ve hit a few walls. However, I think I get it all worked out eventually

“Will the animals be able to fight against others?” - Yes! absolutely! You can specify “Engage tags” per animal class and then an Engage Behavior per animal. So, say a deer will have engage tags “Player,” “Predator” and the behavior will be “Run Away.” You can get even more specific by having specific animals only attack other animals (say you give the wolves an engage tag of “Baby Deer” and they will only attack the baby deer in that case).

I like your idea about including multiple idle animations (so the animals dont just stand there), so I’ll add it to the list of future updates :). I’ll also take a look at your other suggestion about the baby animals following you - though thats a lot harder to include and I’ll have to see if I can add something like that after the initial release

Hey @tero83 ,

I’m hoping it will be released by August or September (the latest), but its hard to say since Im learning multiplayer as I go (so its hard to estimate a time). Im getting close to being able to show something again, so stay tuned for a new video coming soon(ish) lol
