I can understand why Houdini would be annual unless you can afford a commercial license, but I think doing it for Houdini Engine as well is a bit harsh.

Seriously, you shouldn’t have to pay to put your stuff into other software.

There’s nothing stopping you from exporting files from Houdini and importing it into UE4 like all other DCC’s. Houdini engine isn’t necessary just convenient, as for annual licensing that’s just how sidefx decided to run their business.

Here’s a technical question for the devs: can you combine Morph targets in UE4 with melting/smoke effects made in Houdini?

The reason I ask is because I have an ArchViz project I want to do with melting and burning dynamics.
