, Did you ever release this template to the market place? Looking to build a TD game with many units and thought maybe parts of your template would be a good choice to use.

thanks for the interest, at the moment I’m focusing on “Edge of Chaos”, hopefully we can start a Kickstarter campaign in Oct-Nov.
So the plugin development is really active, of course I’m dealing with other tasks in EOC too, which makes things slower, but also resulting in new unplanned features. So after the campaign I would see how to continue.
Btw EOC team requires artists, we need modular buildings, characters and animations mainly, please PM me and include some links of your works if possible
Soon I will present short videos of the basic fight system (ranged and melee, infantry, cavalry), atm I’m designing and testing the new behaviour system.
Looks great! I’m sure it’s already planned but perhaps tracking the cavalry units’ velocity and adding some ‘pushback’ would be nice to really give the charge more force.
yeah exactly, some fake physics simulation should be implemented. luckily, meanwhile I reworked the movement system, including avoidance and collision resolution, so in theory now possible to apply a large initial impact force (a push vector, used currently for smooth crowd movement) that will be smoothed over a few frames to get a believable end result but requires tests and tweaks and tests and tweaks…
Do you continue with this project?
Yes, new features are coming continuously, because it powers our upcoming RTS called Edge of Chaos! But probably it won’t be released as a MP plugin…

I admire your work and I’am currently programming the RTS of my dreams as well. It is basicly Empire Earth + Age of Empires 2 + Supreme Commander + Command and Conquer + Starcraft 2 + Terraria + League of Legends. It may sound odd but i try to get all the best (RTS) components and combine them to the best RTS possible. I already have the basics, but i need a more professional solution at some places (pathfinding for example). Is there any way we can write / talk about some solutions you found? It would REALLY help me out, because i really dont know where to start with this.
Again awesome that there is another programmer, who programs a promise looking RTS with Unreal

Hi,
it is hard to create an RTS with the built in UE4 gameplay stuff, so basically you have to write your own solution for everything, if you need many units, and want to support multiplayer. I can give you hints, but no full solution
…moreover, if you own Ancestor’s Legacy, you can check its mod editor to get some good ideas… but they implemented instanced skeletal mesh as I know to render units fast enough.
very cool! I wish I could contribute somehow! But where is the repo for this? Do you have anything public yet or is this close-source atm?
