I agree. I am one of the mentioned game developers (not on a big company, a moderate one that depends on assets created by 3rd-party artists).

I believe one solution could be a separate license for the non-commercial-ready products on fab? now there is only “personal” and “professional”, maybe add “non-commercial” so it is clear that the asset can be bought, but it cant be used on commercial projects.
This way all assets could be listed on FAB, and byers would know what they can use the assets for.
