4.14 Released!

My context menu for TMap is completely empy, so from my point of view its not a feature, if you cant do anything with it.

You said it “archived” not done, don’t expect it before 2017 or 2018

0.1 is 10% of screen. Way too large for good results. Try something like 0.01.

Perhaps someone made a mistake on the stream - I don’t know I didn’t watch - but there’s nothing in the release notes at all saying maps and sets are available in blueprint. Just that they are editable in the details panel.

You might be right, miscommunication.

For those looking for information about how to work with Maps and Sets in the Details panel, you can check out these new pages  : Level Editor Details Panel in Unreal Engine | Unreal Engine 5.1 Documentation and Level Editor Details Panel in Unreal Engine | Unreal Engine 5.1 Documentation.

0.1 is the setting recommended by Epic on the first page of thread, in the livestream, and in the notes of the update. But regardless, I tried 0.01 and I still can’t get a usable result out of :

At 0.01 all I get is the artifacts around objects, it is not even picking up the contact points anymore.

Again I have to ask, is what the effect is supposed to do? Is a bug specific to my setup?

The changes regarding material slot names are awesome as it makes it a lot easier to reimport meshes without material assignments going haywire… really looking forward to 4.14.1 with mesh decals not crashing the editor. speaking of 4.14.1… is there an eta on when to expect a release? december maybe?

I Like the Update…

MSA is really AWESOME… i Love it on my Hairs…, but … you need Forward Rendering and Forward Rendering cant Use Dynamic Shadow(On Movable Lights) …, so i think its not Really Usefully…

Zip test case, upload it somewhere and link it to your AnswerHub bug report. That’s what I would do.

I’m curious to know if alpha to coverage for the forward renderer is expected in the next release or two? Would love to have it.

Regardless, I’m really looking FORWARD to release.

Lemme give you a quote

The game dev community of Southern Brazil is already upgrading to version 14 of the UE. Thanks!

To get fixed, please file proper bug report on Answer Hub: How do I report a bug? - Programming & Scripting - Epic Developer Community Forums

is a known issue that should be fixed in an upcoming hotfix: Unreal Engine Issues and Bug Tracker (UE-38599)

Great update, thanks Epic/Unreal / for informations

We just moved our project to 4.14 and noticed an immediate change.

We have a large landscape populated with Kite Demo trees. In 4.13 and before these were perfect. Now, it seems as if something is off with the LODs because trees at a certain distance show up as brown shapes (the meshes without materials?) both in the editor and in a PIE window.

What new setting do we need to adjust to fix ?

I was getting some pretty crazy frequent (like 95% of the time) crashes all related to blueprints and – seemingly – just parsing them?

All eventually ended up with : LinkerPlaceholderExportObject

I just pulled from master in the desperate hope that something was just awry in the release. I’m building. THERE’S SUSPENSE. IT’S PALPABLE.

(ps. tossed a bug report here Blueprint Crash (UE 4.14) - Blueprint - Epic Developer Community Forums)

Be praised.
