Android 108MB umap File!

Are things seroius! I just opened twin stick template and staright away chose shipping configuration and packaged etc1 for android, NO STARTER CONTENT.

I got a 147MB Obb file!!!

I inquired my project files only to discover that the lone default map file in the MyProject2\Saved\Cooked\Android_ETC1\MyProject2\Content\TwinStickBP\Maps folder contributes 108MB!

while the one in the Content\TwinStickBP\Maps is just 10MB, (but why is a bunch of mesh and their locations 10MB anyway?)

Whats in the map to make it that giant? its just 10-13 static meshes .

What am I doing wrong here? UE4 V4.7.2

Hi!

Many users forget, what unreal add to package engine too. It is approximate 64MB. Another moment - UE4 not analyze project and levels, and cooking and packaging all assets and maps inside folder Content. For example, if you add to project 3 static meshes with shaders and textures, but you level contain only one static mesh. Anyway all 3 static meshes with shader and textures will be add to package.

Howdy Commander Shepard,

Thank you for the information about the packaging sizes. This is a known issue that we have been further investigating. I will be sure to update you as I know more or hear anything about this issue.

Thanks and have a great day!

Man are you even real? The Engine code and runtime dependencies are packed onto the APK itself as a .so lib file (typically libUE4.so) . If you see what I mentioned its just the map file that accounts for all the size not the packages.

Hey Commander Shepard,

Juts wanted to provide the bug report number so I can update you as soon as possible on the issue. The report is UE-11388.

Thanks!
