Hello Koaleex and welcome to the forums.
If you are just starting then you need to start with the basics.
My advice is to start making your game while you also learn the basic principles and tools.
Unfortunately that’s the only quick answer.
You need to learn the basics of programing and the engine.
If you cant tell if the tutorial helps you or not, then you really benefit from learning the basics.
Imho the tutorial will help you anyway, at least how to organize the mechanic.
How you display it later is up to you. 2d/3d/text.
There will be some differences but it will help you.
I imagine youre using paperZd, right? They have a discord too.
Imho your question as is, is too broad and basic. The only option would be for someone to make the code for you, which i wouldnt expect, and also you wouldnt learn anything.
But dont worry you can learn, and there’s ton of resources.
Start making your game and youll get better results asking specific questions i think. At least until you can handle the basics and can abstract ideas to a more broad term.
If youve acquired some courses try finishing them first.
