Welcome to the new Epic Games launcher! We’ve redesigned the launcher for all our Epic users, whether you’re developing with UE4, or contributing to Unreal Tournament.

UE Plug-in Support
When available in the marketplace, the Launcher now supports downloading and installing plug-ins to an editor.
Users with Engine 4.8, will see a link under the engine slot in the library. Clicking the link will open a window where they can view installed plug ins.
From the same window users will be able to remove and update plug-ins
Improved loading experience of assets from disk. Removed a noticeable hitch when loading large number of items.
Improved launcher self patch system to decrease download size between versions
–Bug Fixes–
Fixed some crash issues reported by users
Notifications of new available builds should no longer take excessive amounts of time
If the launcher is closed during an update the update will now start at the appropriate place
Made the right click menu behaviour in the UE project section consistent between Mac and PC
The Version selector will now always appear correctly when attempting to launch certain projects
Fixed an issue where notification icons were not appearing when there were updates for the UT Editor
Users will receive a warning when cloning a code based projects
Users should no longer see “Free” on buttons when the user is already entitled.
MAC: The Launcher will detect language settings properly when set to Chinese (simplified)
MAC: Launcher menu bar no longer flashes and shows double UI elements when resized
MAC: Fixed an issue where in some cases the launcher could restore off screen when opened
MAC: The Launcher will now automatically restart after pushing an update while the launcher is open

– New Features –
Unreal Engine Library - Vault Update
We’ve updated the Vault section of the library to display all items you own.
No matter if you have downloaded assets or not you’ll be able to manage all content directly from the vault.
In addition we’ve removed the display of multiple versions of the same item and now will only show one item for all versions.
When adding an asset to a project the Launcher will handle any additional downloads to get the right versions of the asset for you.
When creating a project from a marketplace item, you’ll choose the version of the project you’d like to create and will download necessary files on demand.
Lastly, the new Vault shows the size on disk for each asset and its versions and allows you to remove local content to save space on assets and projects not currently in use.
Users can now opt out of Single Sign On for Epic websites via the launcher
We’ve added an option under the user menu to disable Single Sign on to Epic websites.
Disabling SSO will require you to sign-in any time the Launcher opens an Epic website.
In addition we’ve updated our external link routing in the Launcher to only route Epic URL’s through our account portal system when SSO is enabled.
New and updated error messages
We’ve updated a set of our error messages to provide more clarity when something goes wrong and provide some trouble shooting links when possible.
– Bug Fixes –
Resolved an issue where the Publisher is listed as “UNKNOWN” in dialog when asked for UAC permissions in some cases
Fixed a number of issues where you would see a windows icon including task manger, pinned items, and shortcuts
“Chat” no longer appears in the drop-down friend menu in whisper chat
fixed an issue where all friend request toast notification disappear when one is accepted/declined
Fixed a crash when logging into the Launcher (for a small subset of users)
Fixed an issue on Macs where Username does not appear at top of Social panel on initial load
Game Invite toasts do not give the user the option to accept or deny the game invite
Failed repair should no longer leave an engine in a broken state
fixed an issue on Macs where a plugin will not function after cancelling update
Social Button “!” notification should no longer remain after game invite is accepted/rejected if social panel is open
Fixed an issue where a failed file copy during patch caused future runs of the launcher to crash
The social window will now remember size or position after being opened and closed
Search results on the learn page will now update properly when there are no results to display
Updated the Installer to include a “Repair” option on Windows 7 and 8

We pushed the latest UE4 Launcher content update and hotfix on the 26th without the notes, oops! The launcher now links to Blueprint Editor Tips and Tricks blog from the Home section.
Also the Marketplace now has Blueprint Office content for free download. In the preview section of the Marketplace, we’ve added the Platformer Game coming soon hint.
