This is getting frustrating... why is it so hard to support Cinema 4D?

Because its a lot of work!

Here is an example of our results we have internally, after loading up a model from turbosquid in C4D:

Unreal 4.23 will have the c4d importer included - expect a few more weeks prior to get access to the previews.

Its a direct import in this case. You’ll find it in the datasmith import button

                  Hi Epic,

Any updates on when Datasmith for C4D will be shipping.
Spoke to your Enterprise head at a recent training session a few weeks ago and he mentions within a few weeks (now-ish).

Just checking in to see latest updates?

Is there any documentation for import C4D native
                        best practice?

I tried opening a C4D scene with the C4D import plug-in and it says it doesn't recognize the .C4D extension

I am on Windows 10. I tried importing a C4D 20 and a C4D 19 scene. Unreal gave me an error message saying the .C4D extension was "UNKNOWN" for both. Bummed

Hey guys for those of you using Preview 3 I was able to get this to work. You need to first save your c4d scene using their "Save for Melange" option under the file menu. Then, using the Datasmith button in UE4 (at the top bar), switch it to C4D importer and import that C4D scene file. Everything comes in great! Mograph and cloners seem to be working well, but I haven't yet done thorough testing. Well done Epic!
