I started with datasmith, mainly because vray materials converted to UE, but only good thing is converting bump material, so I guess I can create all materials in UE still. When I import model from max to UE over datasmith everything is fine, but then when I import some missing model over FBX i have to scale it i think 10 times? So I guess I have to go again over datasmith for importing forgotten or missing models. Also I was experimenting with LOD (great stuff by the way) and datasmith doesn't import LOD from max, just import group, so i guess i have to do it manually again (can somebody help me on this)? What do you think what is better pipeline 3ds to UE, what do you use, your thoughts and experience ?

Have you tested the Datasmith workflow from 3ds Max on the new UE 4.20 Previews? 4.20 has a number of improvements over the 4.19 release, including better LOD support. See the below note from the 4.20 Preview announcement thread.
LOD generation: In 4.20, we provide a user-extensible Python script, and expose it to Blueprints, that creates simplified LOD meshes and assigns the LOD to a static mesh. Now, LOD creation can easily be automated.Stephen Ellis | Senior Engine Coordinator

Each major engine release has new features, and fixes, that the previous did not. For a summary of what is available in 4.20, see here.
