On the edge of the material change, instead of sudden ice or a gradient, have some areas spreading faster than others. Either be large round variations for something like lava flowing or jagged spreading for sudden freezing: http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/t/ice-edge-28315685.jpg not necessarily a jagged pattern on the ice or snow itself, just the edge.

      Hello again

I know, what you mean. I made a effect similar to that, but the decal system is limited. Jagged spreading will probably be not possible I'm afraid. I will try it though, but please keep in mind that there is a high possibility that it won't work.

Still, I made some progress despite being busy with my other project. I can't just let you guys down . I will also add something, which you probably will like. I will call it "Age and die". This will be a decal system, which applies age effects on several materials .

And I enhanced the ice effects too. I will post an update video in the next days, maybe even tomorrow.

      Take care guys!

          Hi, kirahirasai

I enjoyed the ice and lava evolution.
Is it possible to animate the lava using panner, apply normals and displacements, has power and seed parameters?

I think it is possible though it will definitely increase the shader complexity. But it should be tolerable as long as you don't spawn more than 2 into a level ( I tested it with 5 and got no framedrops, but I want to be on the safe side).
