Packaging for Android in Shipping mode fails

    Packaging for Android in Shipping mode fails

    The packaging for Android in Shipping mode always fails. I even tried to package Tappy Chicken in Shipping mode and it failed as well.
    The packaging in Development mode every time succeeds.
    Is there a problem with Unreal Engine 4 or do I do something wrong?

    If you have not gone through this yet I would highly recommend you do as it will help to ensure that you have everything setup correctly.

      I followed all the steps of Android Quick Start https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest...ted/index.html
      1. I installed the Android SDK.
      2. I set up my Android device (Asus memo pad 8).
      3. I created a new project (In Project Settings>Project - Packaging>Build configuration I chose "Development").
      4. I launched the project on my device.
      5. I packaged the game and installed it successfully on my device.

      After that I chose in Project Settings>Project - Packaging>Build configuration "Shipping" and checked the "For Distribution" checkbox.
      I could launch the project on my device (Step 4).
      But I couldn't package the game (Step 5). Build failed.

      I did the same with Tappy Chicken.
      In "Development" mode I could launch and package the game.
      In "Shipping" mode I could launch the game but I couldn't package it.

      What should I do to get the game packaged for distribution in Shipping mode?

      PS. I need to package my game for the distribution on Play Store.

        Can you post the log or at least the line where the Build Failed? There are thousands of reasons it could happen.

        When trying to build, click on "Show Output Window" and paste the log here (or on answerhub), it'll be easier to figure out the issue then!

          Can I send the output log by an e-mail? It has to many characters and I can't attach it as an txt file.

                    Hmm, it seems to be having issues actually putting the .apk file together.

                    First guess from me would be to make sure you have write permissions to the folder/location you're exporting too. Aside from that, this looks like the suspecting line:

                        I have no idea how to write permissions to the folder/location I am exporting.
                        Do I have to do it inside the Engine or is it a setting of the Windows (I use Windows 7)?

                          Hey dgonik,

                          Place your Sing.keystore file in the project's Build/Android folder (C:\Users\Daniel Deveraux\Documents\Unreal Projects\Test2\Build/Android). It will be copied from there to the proper place for code signing.

                            I can't find Sing.keystore. I even can't find UE.keystore for Tappy Chicken.
                            Should I create this keystore file by myself or the Engine does it?

                              We do not ship the UE.keystore used for releasing Tappy Chicken to Google Play Store. You need to create your own keystore with the Google Play Store dashboard for your application if you want to create Shipping builds for release on the store. I mentioned Sing.keystore since based on the log, this is what you typed into the keystore field on the Distribution settings in Android project settings for your project.
