Can't play with Unreal engine 4, a multiplayer game, through hamachi ? "shootout example"

Can you ping each other? I have no idea why I mean I have not programmed Hamachi so I don't know much about it.....

So both me and my friend got black screens when we tried to connect to each other. I tried to host first, sent him my IP he got black screen and then he tried to host and I tried to join and I got a black screen. The part that worked was we were both able to log onto the VPN I created with Hamachi

It might be my coding inside the Unreal Engine though. Not sure will have to take a step back and look at it again.

And Hamachi is not a secured connection and not even a real VPN btw.

Oh and then after you exit it from your task bar it still runs btw.

I dont like this Hamachi already. It just starts up at startup of my computer and it doesn't give you the option in settings to change that. I had to go into my task manger and disable it as a startup app. We will see. This thing better have a stellar performance otherwise its getting the fck off my machine.




I dont like apps that thinks it can do whatever it wants on your machine now

1 FireWall off.
2 copy the IP from hamachi and paste it in the " text input ". ( ( "" ) ) Because IDK how you guys call it I come from flash.... )
3 you should be able to play....

P.S. The IP should be off your partner the one who is hosting the server.

O.k. so I installed Hamachi created my own VPN seems fine.
So it looks like I still have to copy my IP address from what Hamachi is showing me and send it to my friends to connect right?
Or do they simply have to search for my VPN's name and connect to it?

So I installed Hamachi, registered and created my free VPN for 5 players.
So next question ...

How do I set Unreal up to mp over Hamachi?
Do I do a host or start session and join session with nodes in BP?
I assume its a LAN setup right?
So you just do a "Join a Session or start a Session"?
Then do I do anything with my firewall?

Thanks for confirming yeah their website looks like they updated it. Looks and installs fine.
I always panic first I see it as a preemptive strike :-)
If anything can go wrong it will and always in the worst possible order :-)

How does the region matter?

no idea
shame you need to use steam at all,
myself and a few other people pleaded with Epic (way back when it was called Rocket) to provide a way of connecting over the internet without steam. must have fallen on deaf ears.
wonder if ue4 has anything like NAT punchthrough like unity has, that will connect anything anywhere to anything anywhere, thats what we need here.

good to hear hamachi is working for you but its not really a solution for a released game.

to make it connect through steam using ue4's test app id you need to fool steam.
thanks to Nsomnia for the tip

open steam,
go to settings - downloads - download region
and change all the machines you are testing on to the same region
after that you will be able to see each others games and connect no problem
