I was wondering if we were supposed to receive an email but thanks for the update Chance! I've been sitting on the edge of my seat since sending my submission on Friday. Thanks!

Is there any deadline to submit the a project to be considered in the first round or an GDC announcement? The prototype is nearly finished and we are just polishing it but we have a lot of material already ready to be send out, should we wait and submit it all together?

I could be wrong but I don't think there will be many around gdc. On the day they announced this (the 20th) when they did the stream they said they already had 60 submissions by the start. It's been 8 days since then and multiple articles across internet publications. I would imagine it would take a while for them to fully evaluate each submission. Not sure how large the team is that is handling the grants though, so I could be wrong.

There isn't any deadline, and Tim Sweeney stated this should be at least a year period before reaching the end of their grant fund, IIRC. The newest stream answers most of your questions in the first 15 minutes or so.

              Two core questions about submissions:

Short mail with links OR long mail with content?

Can you use attachments in email or will it mess around the mail?

              Cheers!

Brevity is definitely something that helps - It's sometimes difficult to parse through a long set of text (and it breaks some of our triage processes )

But links! Links are always encouraged - the more we can see and understand your product, the better

So excited to see who's making it in the the first round of getting a grant by Epic Games!

Cannot wait to apply end of March with our prototype. Even if we won't make it, it's pretty awesome that Epic Games is even taking time to look at your project

Hey everyone! This is very exciting. I do have a question though!

I have a project that I've been working on for almost 2 years, and a lot of it is heavily developed in UDK with thousands of lines of UnrealScript code. These past months I have been porting the game over to UE4. If I submit a video of my project, will it still be considered if I show off some of the more advanced features from the UDK version, that haven't been ported to UE4 yet? I plan to have both the UE4 and UDK builds featured in the video. Rest assured, eventually I will have the whole thing in UE4, but showing the UDK build is the best way for me to show the more advanced features to be added in the future.

Also, a second question: if and when Epic notifies me about the grant, will I be able to coordinate the transaction details with them before the grant is actually sent to me? I would not want them to send it directly to the card I had set up for paying my UE4 subscription, I would want a custom (perhaps deferred) transaction to be set up with them, so the money goes to a more secure location. I'd imagine other developers might share this concern as well.

Please let me know! Thanks for your time,

                        Christian

If your game can be well communicated and you've got a working prototype, then submit away

Re: notifications and transfers - Sill working out the details there, but will get a more comprehensive FAQs together once we've got some of these things sorted out

Regarding that; Is there still time to have a chance on getting to GDC batch or are they carved in stone at this point?

Edit: Realized that GDC started today, not end of the week. I'm guessing not then
