It’s not worth compromising with Unity’s lighting engine, sorry, but it seems if there’s such vocal support for implementing a smoov 6-axis controller like 3D-Connexion into UE4, then if we can send a man to the moon, this wouldn’t seem such a tall ask. I’d also support throwing in some bucks if crowd-sourcing someone to knock out a plugin. Regarding UE4 motion control for Vive and Rift, that’s not a solution for everyone. Most VR applications aren’t designed for full freedom of navigation, everyone is doing this slipping from node to node in space to then move your head around for looking and a bit of moving, IMHO a lame workaround to the motion sickness problem. Alternative display tech and approaches to navigation (slow it down) support fully immersive display of contiguous navigation. The 2-axis gamepad beats the heck out of jerky mouse movements, but still betrays mechanical limitations. What turns people on, and I’ve presented to many on large 3D projection setups, is cinematic motion. The gamepad gets you there, kinda, but the 6-axis Space Mouse is the ideal.
