Why is Chaos Vehicle still experimental, yet the documentation on it sounds official?

In the opening page of the Vehicle section of the UE documentation, it says,

" Chaos Vehicles is Unreal Engine’s lightweight system for performing vehicle physics simulations.

The following pages show developers how to set up a Vehicle, and how to convert an existing PhysX vehicle to its Chaos Vehicle equivalent."

If it is officially the replacement and no discussion about using PhysX is published any longer, why is it packaged in an experimental plugin?

And where does one go to find the change logs for the development of the plugin or any status on it by Epic?

I am curious if it is what I should focus on using for my vehicles or I should find another solution.
