What is the best way to go about texturing your imported models


What would be the best way about texturing your models that you created in other programs such as autodesk maya,
would it to texture the model in maya itself or would it to texture it in unreal ?

I have created some models in maya and tried texturing them in unreal but because they are not bsp brushes i cannot edit the scale of the texture (surface properties).

Edit: I quickly had a look over basic texturing in maya and imported a simple mesh into unreal but the quality was low.
