What is the best BP to save ammo and life status on from level to level

would a variable be saved from level to level if in the Game Mode blueprint assigned to the level? or would i need a game mode instance. just wondering where i should save things like health and ammo from level to level in a shooter.

If you want a central reference point for things, then game instance is the way. That’s what it’s for.
