Water System - use of Water Body Island

I’m asking myself, what’s the real use of the Water Body Island actor?
Doing my landscape, adding an ocean and having my ‘main island’ defined by this. Now going at some point in the ocean and want to have a second small island.

Option A)

Drop in a water body island, define its shape by spline, tuning all the parameters like falloff, edge offset … Now I have an island, roughly shaped by the parameters. Next step is adding a new landscape layer and sculpt to the final shape.

Option B)

Just go ahead, add the landscape layer and sculpt your island from ground of sea. Works perfectly, and just does not require the step to create that water body island actor.

I wonder, what the drawbacks are. For example, there’s an array of Islands in the Water details section, which seems to keep track of the islands, next to exclusion volumes. Might be, that it is better for performance? But, anyway, sculpting process will be needed always, because shapes defined by parameters are really basic.

Someone who can bring in some light to this?

Thanks a lot, and Merry Christmas
