Wall piece not snapping correctly - 2 Questions

First question (picture) - I made a wall (glass solid wall broken (a prop)) scaled to 2x… but it is not snapping to 2x tiles, it is starting from 1/2 a tile, and ending at the other 1/2 a tile 2 tiles over. How do I make it snap 1:1 1:1?

And, 2nd question - I made a wall (glass prop wall) and it is not snapping to anything at all, even though all of my editor settings are the same as when using the (glass solid wall broken), which does snap. How do I make this wall snap to anything at all?

Hello,

Scaling happens from the pivot point, so if this was your imported mesh you could change the pivot to the corner and it would scale from there. (and work nicer with snapping)

I think the biggest thing to know here is that there is a setting for ‘Disable Editor Cell Snap’ in the “World Settings” tab. Toggling that will disable the Fortnite snap grid and falls-back on Editor Snapping (snap grid spacing in upper right of viewport)

For your 2nd question, your imported wall might have a different pivot location than Fortnite Wall assets? If you change your snap size to 512 (to match built in wall assets) you might have better luck snapping it around.

On top of my last reply to you, I also tried the same settings in the details panel of each, and didn’t have any luck with making the one wall snap to anything.

Thank you for the reply.

  1. These are both fortnite assets just dropped into my game via the content browser.
  2. “Disable editor cell snap” is set to false.
  3. These are my current editor settings:
    3a. image
  4. When I change the pivot point, same result (I need it to move to the arrow):
    4a.
  5. Changing the setting to 512 makes it snap the size of 1 tile each time, but it doesnt align it with the tiles still:
    5a.

Am I understanding correctly? Do you have any other ideas by chance?

I just gave this a test myself.

I think the solution is to Disable Editor Cell Snap (“Disable editor cell snap” set to true)

When It’s scaled x2 it’s off by 256 units, so change the snap grid to 256 and move it “one snap” to align perfectly.

Then you could turn Editor Cell Snapping back on and work with FNs 512 grid.
