[W.I.P.] Overlaying compositional grids via Blueprint-controls

Hey friends!

I’ve been tinkering with this little tool for environmental artists or just anyone who finds it useful! Check it out below!

I mainly did it to learn more about Blueprints but I also tried to get some functionality out of it! However I feel like I don’t need to take it any further. For learning purposes I’m just about done with it. Before uploading it to the community I’d however like to take your feedback and input - maybe you’d like another feature that’s not included? If so - let me know and I’ll see what I can do!

Features already implemented___

  • Drag and drop a functional blueprint into your level for instant access to the overlays.
  • Three compositional overlays and three grid overlays that can individually be toggled on and off.
  • Opacity slider to control the visibility of all overlays.
  • Option to invert the color of the overlays from black to white.
  • Ability to flip the overlays horizontally and vertically.

Roadmap________ (potential future features)

  • Giving the user the ability to colorize the overlay freely would be a nice feature.
  • Eventually add dropdowns for choosing between the grids? It’d be much cleaner but at the same time why limit the utilization?

If nothing unexpectedly pop up I plan to wrap this up by the weekend and just release it for free from my blog!

Take care!

/ Oscar

This is cool  Suggestions for additional composition checking features (no idea yet whether you can do it in blueprint effectively):

  • Squint mode - A toggle for temporary blue post process as if you were squinting, to check visual balance (UE3 used to have a dedicated button for this, I haven’t found an option for it yet?)
*]Thumbnail mode - press a key to temporarily zoom the viewport to a thumbnail

Is there any plans to release this soon, would be very handy for screenshots/marketing?
