Using UE in research

Hi!

I work at a behavioral science center and we will develop virtual enviorments that our subjects can interact with. I’m totally new to all of this (I’m not the one who will do the develeoping) but I have heard that you pay something like10 % of your game’s earnings when you sell it. How does this work in research?

We will not sell this or make any money but hopefully get scientific results that will get published in scientific journals. Is it enough to reference the UE in the article’s method section?

Best,
Robin

I recommend looking at the UE4 FAQ as a starting point for UE4 EULA licensing.

The royalty is 5% of gross revenue for a Product (as defined by the EULA), unless a royalty exemption applies. If there is no revenue, there is no royalty.
