Using SetPhysicsLinearVelocity results in slowed fall

As stated, I am setting the players velocity for my movement system, shown as follows:

When that is executed, the player’s z-velocity is constantly set to zero, resulting in a significantly slowed fall.

My question: Why, and how can I fix it?

Edit:
I found that using the setFlipbook is actually the problematic piece…
The following works fine.
