Using multiple body part colliders on a Character

I am creating a Character, really simple person, but was wondering if I could get more resolution than just the outer capsule collider. I would like to add capsule colliders on the limbs (head, forearms, upperarm, lowerleg, etc.) to be able to respond to custom hit points. You hit me in the head, I’m dead, you hit me in the leg, I limp.
Would I have to set the outer capsule collider to Ignore all collisions and attach my other colliders?
And how would I attach my other colliders?
