Ureal just restored my project from when i started!!!HELP!

Please someone help!

Ill I did was I went to delete the third person content from my project. Then as it was deleting the engine crashed. I though well no biggie I saved it just before I might only loose 5 minutes. Next minute I load up my level and there’s nothing but the starting area. I looked in my content browser and I realize that my projects been restored back to when I first started! As a moving user from Unity to Unreal this has been a huge set back as I just lost a weeks worth of hard work and this may aswell mean I might have to go back to unity if I can not retrieve this work. Can any one please help.

-what exactly is missing? → everything or just all meshes, textures,…
-take a look at the backup or autosave folder, you will probably still find some of your stuff there → you can move them into the content folder
-could you post your log file → project-saved-logs
-are you 100% sure that you openend the right project :slight_smile:

Okay I definitely opened the right project.

Its also very weird because some stuff is there and some stuff isn’t. Its like the old and the new have been fused.

I will also see what I can get from the back ups.

Also just a suggestion for software in general, anything can go wrong so it’s generally a good idea to get into the habit of backing up. I went through the same thing you did once in the past, and have been doing so ever since via external hard drives. Hope you get this sorted out either way.

When your things are really lost, then the only way to rescue some of it is from the autosave and backup files :frowning:
