As a construction set UCP is on par with most if not all construction sets of the same nature as to overall quality and use and although targeted towards the mobile and VR market can hold its own as a desktop assets based on the need for lower art resolution in favor to maintain a high performance envelope.
Out of the box it is as expected, paint boxes of low detail, but the effort put into the material work well offsets the lack of detail if the need is for a networked game with an expected player load of 32 or more players. It’s not of vis quality but breaking the performance bank has limited market pace appeal geared towards players with cutting edge, meaning expensive, video cards.
However
The value added to this particular product is the use of well implemented blueprints based on per object use that makes the task of iterating for the perfect map layout in a manner similar to window shopping for the perfect object to fill 3d space in an intuitive manner. No need to search through the asset browser scratching you head to figure out what fits with what as for the most part the object BP has the buttons you need to get the right part that fits in the round hole.
This as far as the big picture goes is what is need in the art asset as to usability that is both fast and intuitive aimed at saving time and have no issues as to pointing UCP as the example of how it should be done.
Con
The only opportunity missed that would make a good package even better would have included in the BP setting, just like how you can flip stuff or add roofs and wall, the ability to click on yet another button the would remove the doors or/and windows in favor of more functional assets.
Overall well worth the price to add to the asset kit of construction sets of get it in assets and one can always up the art resolution with custom or off the shelf deco parts.
