UNREAL APP VR vs Stereoscopic 360 video

Hello everyone!
Sorry if i bother you with newbie question. Can some one roughly explain me why it is uncomfortable to have something right in front your face in stereoscopic 3d video (made in cinema4d fo ex)but in applications you dont get this eye depressing effect. For example i experienced The Stranger Things app. And there was plenty of episodes when you have something very very close to viewing point and it felt good. If do the same composition keeping all proportions and distances in 360 stereoscopic stage i get this “bad” effect. Is it something fundamental and how could you discribe it?
