Unable to alter colour of the mannequin


I’m following this video tutorialwww…com/watch?v=NM1ET4uQOnc; the part I’m having troubles with is changing the colours of the mannequin.

I understand that the video is based on previous versions of UE4 so the interface and materials for the character are displayed differently.

My question then will be in the form of a request.

Can anyone post a step-by-step tutorial on how to alter just the colour overlay dynamically of the character whenever I push a button during gameplay? Thanks.

Changing the material of an object dynamically is fairly easy to do over all. What you will need to do is provide a vector parameter within the material you are using, if you are using the original body material this has already been done for you. After this, RMB the material within the content browser and press “Create Material Instance”

Once this is done, assign the new instance as your skeletal meshes material. Now, go to the construction script. You will need to create a dynamic material instance and promote this to a variable:
