UMG Animation

I think posting in the Rendering thread wasn’t the best place, so I’m going to try here.

I know how to do basic UMG animation like change colors on text or a box, but I’m curious to know how you would go about something like animating a 2D flower blooming in UMG as part of a menu. If a player mouses over a button, flowers bloom around the base of the button, and they close up and shrink away (reverse animation) when they mouse off. I get how to do the mouse over commands in blueprint, but what type of content should that blooming flower be? Sprites? Flipbook doesn’t play well with UMG.

Any thoughts?
