Just installed UEFN. Opened up a blank project assigned to a new team I made. I constantly get a windows pop-up that says “How do you want to open this file?” from the moment I open it. If I open the file its just a blank file called curl and it will do it again shortly after. If I try to ignore it by just clicking back on the editor it pops back up after a few seconds asking the same question.
I’ve made a ton of games in 4.16 and 4.27 and never seen this problem. Is there a way I can address this issue that anyone knows about?
I’ve tried:
- Restarting my PC
- Checking for Windows/Epic updates
- Checking Windows Firewall for Fortnite/UE4Editor/Unreal related programs
I have uploaded a video as well.
Got some more time today. Since it seems to be some failed curl implementation I am trying to reduce packets leaving the editor.
I have tried:
- Reinstalling 2x
- Turning off Privacy - Bug Reports
- Turning off Privacy - Usage Data
- Turning off “Editor Analytics Enabled” (strangely this keeps turning back on everytime I restart the editor)
Some things I’ve noticed:
- It tends not to happen until I click on a project/template/island upon booting the editor.
- It tends not to happen often if I am not doing anything in the viewport.
- It tends to happen a lot when adding new assets to the level especially when duplicating assets it might fire like 10 times in 10 seconds.
It really sucks because I lose focus for typing and dragging and resizing.
Ok I found the issue. If I disable revision control the problem no longer happens for me. So it seems to be an error with Unreal Revision Control? This is really bad because I can’t work on a team like this and my PC is old so I don’t want to do anything substantial.
